Dear Friends,

I am delighted to invite you to participate in the Kellogg - AUC executive development program. The American University in Cairo (AUC) was founded in 1919 to promote the ideals of American-style liberal arts education in Egypt and the Middle East. Today, the AUC is the region's premier English-language university - an essential contributor to the social, political and cultural life of the Arab world. AUC has over 5,400 students from 79 nationalities, including 1,000 graduate students; 350 faculty in 39 academic programs; and more than 23,000 active alumni in prominent leadership positions in Egypt and the region.

Building on over 30 years of experience in offering professional development programs in Egypt, the Arab region and Africa, and hosting 12,000 participants annually to one or more of the 300+ professional development programs offered, AUC, through the School of Business, Economics and Communication (BEC), established the International Executive Education Institute (IEEI) in 2008 to be the leading regional platform for world class executive development and networking. Our partnership with Kellogg offers executives in the region a unique opportunity for intellectual stimulation, cutting edge knowledge and valuable networking.
I look forward to welcoming you in Cairo next May in this exciting new program.

The Curriculum

The curriculum for the Kellogg-AUC EDP has been created to meet the needs of a wide range of industries offering theory-driven knowledge and concrete strategies for achieving best outcomes. EDP prepares executives become more effective leaders and change agents in their work organization. Part of the curriculum is designed to cover a broad range of functional areas in order to sharpen general management skills, and the rest of the curriculum is designed to strengthen the participant's strategic thinking, leadership and interpersonal skills.

II.Courses to be offered in Chicago

1.Driving Top Line Organic Growth
Participants will be exposed to powerful, market tested implementation tools and methodologies that can be deployed immediately. The tools and methodologies are based on a variety of world class growth practices and academic research that were tested and optimized over a ten-year period in real business situations. This component focuses on creating the growth strategies and how to instill a growth engine in a company.
2.Strategic Finance
This module explores the strategic decision that an organization makes leading to capital spending. The risk element in financial decision making and the financial instruments that have evolved to reallocate risk in the economy are discussed.

3.Branding
In this component, participants will learn how to create, build and rejuvenate brands. More and more companies around the globe are beginning to appreciate the importance of brands. However, few firms can actually lay claim to a strong, differentiated and enduring brand. Properly managed, brands can be a company's most valuable asset. A well-managed brand can create customer loyalty and name recognition strong enough to overcome intense competition and even price differentiation in a given market.

4.Global (Macro) Economics
This module inspects the global economic mechanisms and trends as well as cultural, social and political environments that shape economies. You will learn to think systematically about the current state of the economy and macroeconomic policy, and to be able to evaluate the economic environment within which business and financial decisions are made. Issues such as the determinants of the level of national income, employment, investment, interest rates, the supply of money, inflation, exchange rates, and the formulation and operation of stabilization policies will be discussed.

5.Value Innovation
Innovation has become the most important strategic advantage and generator of value for businesses today. The ability to react with speed to multiple factors, internal and external to the company can make or break a business. In addition, creating an environment conducive to creativity is a challenge because it involves breaking down barriers and boundaries.

6.Crisis Management
This module provides a fundamental understanding of crisis management principles, strategies and communication methods. You will learn to predict, manage and control real-world crisis that may confront you as an executive so you can better manage volatile situations.

7.Corporate Governance and Securities Analysis
Today's breakneck business pace, changing economic conditions, variable capital markets, and increasing demands for corporate accountability in light of the disclosures of widespread unethical business practices are driving the board's role in corporate governance on to center stage. These new requirements dictate that boards become more involved, knowledgeable and proactive. In this component, participants will improve their understanding of the responsibilities of board membership and gain the skills and strategies needed to become a more effective director. Through cases and simulations, participants will learn techniques to respond to internal and external pressures, as well as a framework to manage the crisis that can confront today's corporations.

8.Leadership
This module analyses leadership in the modern organization and the ethical challenges corporate leaders face in today's dynamic environment. It develops the skills and competencies for leadership in the new economy. The course combines an emphasis on behavioral skills, such as group dynamics, communication and managing diversity, with critical thinking designed to surface and challenge deeply held assumptions.

9.Managing your Business in the Digital Economy
As technology is an enabler of business value creation, every manager needs to understand how technology strategy influences and is influenced by organizational strategy, structure and processes. In this module, you will learn how to leverage technology to improve business performance, to drive revenue growth, and to serve customers more effectively.
