First Employment Fair For Executives and Middle Management

As a warm gesture to wrap up 2004, the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham) organized its first Employment Fair for Executives and Middle Management. Our philosophy was that there have been a number of fairs for fresh graduates, but a fair targeting talented and experienced executives, well that was a first.

Forty-three companies from a variety of sectors provided 350 employment opportunities, an impressive figure given the caliber of the positions. The figure only confirmed our belief that the growing private sector is creating new job opportunities.

While some said the fair was not announced far enough beforehand, the turnout was still considerable. At least one thousand qualified candidates showed up, which pleased the participating companies.

“The fair was very productive for us and we received a significant number of CVs for the position we were offering,” wrote one participant. “Thank you for the fair, which was well organized. AmCham was very cooperative and friendly,” said another. It gave AmCham great pleasure to see that each exhibitor was content with the fair's atmosphere and the high caliber of the candidates.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Members have called for other fairs that would cater to diversified base of applicants, both executives and fresh graduates. This will be our goal for next year's fair, so we welcome your comments on how we can make it even better.
