The American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham) was established in 1981, with the main objective of providing services to its membership. In 1991, the Chamber foresaw an opportunity to strengthen the business framework within the Egyptian community and began providing educational opportunities through workshops. These educational opportunities were not limited to the Chamber membership, but open to all interested professionals who professed an interest in attending these workshops.

In 1994, the Chamber expanded its workshop ideology to include programs in Professional Designations, Professional Workshops and Tailored Workshops. This developed into its current Career Development Center. The main objective of the Career Development Center is to provide a continuing educational opportunity to the Egyptian business professional.
